You see it EVERYWHERE. You’ve got to build your brand! But you may be wondering: “What the heck does that mean?!” Well, if this has been you, keep on a’reading. 🙂 

Branding is something that is essential for any business. Why? Well, think of the last time you went to KFC, Panera Bread, or the last time you rode your Harley, if that’s your thing. I bet you could remember any of those logos right now, without even thinking that hard. Your brand builds recognition. With the ever-shortening attention spans of humans…. Oh look! A bird! Sorry! Back on topic: with our short attention spans, we only have about 8 seconds to process information. When you have a powerful brand, when someone sees you while scrolling down their social media feed and see your logo and colors consistently, they will begin to use these things to identify you. If it’s done right, all of your branding materials such as your logo, website, promotional images and things of that nature reflect a positive image of you that, when put in front of the right people, will begin to attract the types of clients/customers you’re looking for.

But let’s get into the nitty-gritty about what a brand is, shall we? (Warning! Bullets Ahead) 

  • Your Logo – If you are in a very personal business like Life Coaching, or may you’re an author, you really want to have a logo with just your name, while if you’re a company with a team or provide other services, you may want to come up with a business name and have your logo designed around that. In some cases, you may decide to go with something that includes both. Super fictional, non-real example here: “Heart of Gold: Money Coaching by Vanessa Gold”
  • Your Website – Ahh! The crown jewel of online business, the website still reigns supreme. This is where those people who want to work with you find out about who you are, what you do, (what you charge for it) and how you can help them. Many people want to be able to have a full visual of what you’re offering and have all of your information in one place. That way, they can make a decision based on all of what they have right there available to them. This saves you and your potential clients lots of time. Win-win! 🙂
  • Your Visual Identity – This is such an important part of how people view you and understand your brand. Your visual identity is, in a nutshell, what people see of you online and on other marketing materials. Some ways that you can establish your visual identity include: wearing your brand colors in all of your professional pictures and posting promotional graphics with your logo and website on social media.
